Has anyone ever had stomach pain while taking adderall??
Question: I am prescribed to adderall for ADD. i have been on it for several months, but lately i have been getting really bad stomach aches..Has this happened to anyone else? if so what did you do for it? i dont want to go off of adderall because it is the only medication that helps my ADD...
Answers: Are you taking it with food?
If you're taking the XR slow release capsules, that means you take it in the morning. EAT BREAKFAST with it. Seriously. A lot of people are in a hurry in the morning and don't eat breakfast, which isn't good for you in-of-itself. It's worse if you're on Adderall for a couple reasons.
One, taking it on an empty belly can be irritating to your stomach.
Second, once the Adderall starts kicking in you probably won't feel hungry. (A side affect of the medicine is decrease in appetite.) Since you haven't eaten breakfast and you don't feel hungry (and you're finally able to concentrate enough to get things done!) you're likely to skip lunch, or at least eat very little. This was my experience. Feeling the need to eat less seemed like a fabulous side effect until the effects of going without food caught up with me. It could hit me all at once in the middle of the afternoon. Not hunger, as in the desire for food, but pain! Sometimes doubling over with stomach pain! Not fun.
My advice: make sure you're eating something solid, even if it's just a piece of toast. Definitely talk to your doctor about the symptoms, especially if the food doesn't get rid of the stomach ache symptoms. He (or she) may want to lower your dosage to help your body adjust to the drug and slowly work your way up to the therapeutic dose.
stomach pains are common when taking aderrall; I'd ask your doctor about it if it gets to be a big problem.
i get stomach aches from it. I have one right now. Wish I knew what to do about it :-/ if u find out, let me know
