Before one is having a colonisophy you can`t anything with red dye in it so why can you have cranberry juice??

Answers: it is easy really. if u eat like red grapes or red beets or anything with red dye, they might see RED in the colonoscopy which could be mistaken as a bleedingsource. if it si something light red it would look like a fresh bleeding, if darker it could be from an old bleeding so avoid the red stuff. cranberry juice is natural and not dyed and drinks mostly go thru the kidneys and not the intestines
I had a colonoscopy a few weeks ago. Not having anything with red dye was mentioned at all. You are only allowed liquids the day before, coloured liquids were allowed. I drank fruit flavoured teas, including cranberry, which were all colours. Believe me, when you take the medicine to 'clear your system' before the procedure, nothing will be left.
It can only be 100% cranberry juice, no cocktails, no mixes as they tend to add color for appeal on the store shelf.

The color of the cranberry isn't the same compound that makes up the pigment of cherries or grapes and other fruits.

Can't remember all the specifics...but my mom had the same question before a colonoscopy a year ago. My brother who once worked for Ocean Spray tried to explain why it's ok...but getting the info third party didn't make it clear to me.
Cranberry Juice is naturally Red, there is no red dye added.
