Pain after using neti pot- is it normal??

Question: I experience pain in the sinuses above my eyes towards my nose- basically where eyebrows begin. Is this normal or am i doing something wrong? There is also a long period of time before the water makes it way out the other side of each nostril. I am using sterile pharmacutical grade non-iodized salt and warm water.
Thank you.
Answers: Be sure when you use the neti pot that you use warm water, always breath through your nose while rinsing you sinuses, and afterwards blow gently through your nose to help expel the water from your sinuses. Also, with a tissue blow your nose gently when you have done all other steps. You shouldn't have any pain from using the neti pot.
I have trouble using the neti pot because I have a deviated septum. It sounds like you might as well. Possibly water is being retained up high in your sinuses.
