My new dentist just polished my teeth with a baking soda & salt combo. What exactly was that he used on me??

Question: I just visited my new dentist and the said that they were going to used a polish that was probably new to me. I asked what it was and they just said it was salt and baking soda. They seemed to basically pressure wash my teeth with a baking soda and salt combo. It seemed to do a preety good job of polishing and my teeth feel as clean as they ever have. My gums are a little more sore which doesnt seem that unusual to me but my lips, gums and mouth feel like they have been soaking in salt water for a week. Is this new product worth it? Or does the old polish do just as good a job. I realize that there is almost always a better product out there than what most people are used to but sometimes doctors get sold on a product by salespeople and are more concerned about what they can get than what is best for the patient. Any info or comments on this subect are appreciated.
Thank you.
Answers: It's not new at all. Centuries old. Sodium bicarbonate is probably in your frig right now soaking up odors. Salt is on the table, sodium chloride.
It's cheap, lightly abrasive, non-toxic, and environmentally safe. What else could you ask for?
thats what they used before toothpaste my mom had a cavity that arrested itself great stuff no sugar like toothpaste
