Do you know what a dentist do for a root caneal??
Answers: A Root Canal treatment helps to save the tooth. The pulp inside the tooth is probably infected and will die, or has already died. The pulp needs to be removed or the tooth will get infected and you will need to have the tooth extracted.
A hole is drilled in the crown of the tooth; the pulp is removed; the root canal is cleaned; the hole is packed and sealed.
The dentist puts a crown on top to strengthen the tooth.
You may have antibiotics to clear up the infection in the pulp.
You may have an Endodontist do the root canal procedure and your regular Dentist do the crown.
You will have several appointments to do all this work.
they fill he root with medicaments( like medicines, which help in healing) and then place a cement over it, or thay cap the crown
Depending on the number of teeth and severity affected, root canals usually require one to two visits not including any follow-up visits. Your dentist or Endodontist will numb the area around the affected tooth, or may offer you the option of mild sedation. A rubber dental dam is placed and the tooth is then drilled to the pulp area either through the top or the back of the tooth. The actual root canals are measured after some of the pulp has been removed. This is done so that the dentist can clean the entire canal, and so that enough of the filling material will be used to completely fill the canal. The actual measuring is done with either x-rays or electronic imaging devices.
All of the diseased pulp in the tooth is removed, and the canal is cleaned out thoroughly with an antiseptic solution. This solution will clean all of the canals within the tooth. The canals are then filled with gutta percha, a flexible plastic material. A temporary filling is then put on top of that. A crown or permanent filling will be done after there has been no sign of infection. Crowns are most common since the root canal procedure weakens the tooth. The crown is usually placed as soon as possible, within a month or less.
Expect two to three days of soreness after the procedure, or longer if the infection in the root canal was severe.
it rally hurts!! wish you luck!
the explanation from Trixie is correct. This is how a rct is done. And with the technical instruments and devices we use these days a rct a very easily done and has no more pain than another restoration in the mouth. It might be a little sore for a while but that is better then sever pain. But please what ever the Dentist advises to finish with a restoration be it filling depending on which tooth it is or core buildup and crown to this as soon as the dentist requires you to or the tooth with fail from either bacteria getting in the tooth again or fracturing. This tooth will be brittle and weak and all the money you invest will be for nothing.
