Have you had a root canal or surgery for a cavity? DOES IT HURT??
Question: I don't have $400 which is what it will cost under my mom's insurance. So I want to apply for Medi-Cal Insurance because I'm a poor college student. Then go to like Western Dental and get it done there.
1. Does anyone know about how much it costs there?
2. Does it hurt really bad?
3. How long will my face be all puffy?
Answers: If your dentist knows what he's doing, you shouldn't feel a thing during surgery or root canal. A root canal may be a bit achy afterward, but not much. Surgery is surgery, and you have stitches and blood and, naturally pain, but the dr. should give you pain meds and you'll feel much better in 2-3 days.
No puffy face unless they're pulling your wisdom teeth.
No idea on the price, but if there's a dental school nearby, they'll treat you very inexpensively.

meh i dont kno a thing about the Medical so ima skip that
Surgery always does hurt but if u go to the right dentist, he'll fill u with painkillers so u wont feel a thing or put u to sleep using a gas mask on u
ur face wont get the puffy maybe like being stung by bugbites but the only other way it could get screwed is by the dentist doing the painkiller thing wrong and r face is injected with the painkiller stuff
i had one of my big teeth pulled out at the back of my mouth on DEC24/07 it was a emergency and cost 253.00 dollars Canadian. they had to freeze it 3 times . they freeze it good you don't fell it but you have a little pain for about a week after i took advil like 3 at a time it help it's all good now . my face was puffy a little not bad .
I have insurance, but the total bill usually comes out to be arounf $500 or so, maybe a bit more, I don't recall how much exactly. The last time I had one done was like 5 years ago. I went to a dentist I had not been to before, and she tried to do a root canal on an infected tooth. Did it hurt? The pain was horrible! I ended up being put on steroids for a week to bring the swelling or whatever down, and we tried again. This time it worked. Mow and behold though, months later I started having problems again with the same tooth. I ended up going to an endodontist (?), and he had found that the root canal had not been done correctly. You could easily see how messed up it was in the x-rays. Anyway, it cost me another $800 to have my old root canal removed, then a new one put back in - this time correctly. And the insurance company didn't cover a single penny. I had to pay entirely ouy of pocket for it.
But I'm sure you won't have that kind of problem. I've never even heard of anyone having that happen to them before. Figures it was me that it happened to!
