Washing mouth with peroxide?!?!??
Question: is it ok to wash my mouth every night maybe morning too with peroxide?!!? does it whiten your teeth? and does it help with bad breath? i heard that over time it breaks down you enamal though...but isn't it safer than a tooth whitening kit?!? so yeah i know there a lot of questions..but please help me and if you know anyother information on the subject that would be great!!! thanks a million!
Answers: I personally wouldnt wash my mouth with peroxide. If you're looking for whiter teeth, fresh breath and to kill germs etc, I'd use something such as Listerine mouth wash (There's no longer just the bad tasting one!). It kills the majority of germs, freshens the breath, whitens the teeth, prevents mouth/gum diseases such as gingevitis, and you know its not dangerous, because thats what its made for!
Brush twice a day, floss and use mouthwash and you'll have the best looking smile, freshest breath and best mouth to kiss in no time!

i was given peroxide solution to rinse my mouth with after i had my wisdom teeth out. its only purpose was sterilisation. it tasted putrid and it didnt whiten my teeth any.
dont go there. buy listerine whitening or something instead.
yes its fine, yes it whitens, never heard it breaks down enamel unless you leave it in for a looonnnggg time each time. It also decreases bacteria in your mouth=healthy
my best to you
Yes it is OK, but you should dilute it, maybe a capful in a 4 oz glass of water. Floss first before you use it. If your gums bleed a bit it will help heal them. Peroxide won't really whiten your teeth noticeably, but it is one of the best anti cavity and anti gum disease remedies around. It neutralizes sugar, lactic acid and other stuff that leads to bad breath and tooth decay. I learned this from a chemistry teacher and have used it for years. He was 100% right...no visits to the dentist.
If you are using the standard peroxide that you purchase from drug store like Long's Drugs you need to dilute it by half a percent. Take one part peroxide, one part water and mix it, that's all you need. The reason is because it's too strong straight out of the bottle. You might alter the bacterial flora of your mouth and wind up with black hairy tongue - an unsightly but harmless condition.
I don't know anybody who rinses with peroxide. Typically it is used in conjunction with baking soda as a toothpaste which does work very well if whitening.
