Metal Rings - Braces - Painful, OMG HELP!??
Question: Please don't avoid this question. I really think there is a problem with the metal ring of my left side! It's starting to scratch or touch my tongue and itch it which is painful, but not my right side! Only my left side and it's so PAINFUL!! UGH!
I really think there is a major problem here.. ! But Idk.
Whenever I talk, try to eat I feel the metal, which is painful, will it cause damage to my tongue ?? :(

Please! It's painful .. ;( What if I accidentally injure my tongue, then i would have to go to the hospital and get surgery and all that, and I have a problem with hospitals, phobia or w/e you call it.

Answers: I also used to have that problem on theleft side of my mouth with braces. I'm assuming your talking about the metal ring around your molar. The ortho might not have gotten the metal ring all the way onto the tooth, hence why it would scratch and sometimes even catch your tounge. You definetely need to schedule an appointment with your Ortho, they don't want you to be in pain all the time! Go in and tell them where and what the problem is and they can get it all sorted out for you!
Also, your tounge might hurt so much because it isnt used to having that metal ring to rub against. Mine was when I first got braces. Keep up with your toothbrushing and mouthwashing etc. and they will help to heal up your tounge. After a while it wont bother you anymore
