Dentists and dentists techs- toothbrush question!??
Question: What is the best toothbrush on the market? I'm going to invent in a healthier toothbrush. I saw some alert you if you brush too hard- which is my problem. What would you recommend?
Answers: Get your dentist/hygenist to show you how to brush properly. To test if you are pushing too hard get some kitchen scales, close your eyes and press your brush onto it as hard as you would if u were brushing. Take a look and if it's 100g or less you're perfect.
If your technique is good then a powered brush isn't any better than a manual (although the frequency a sonic brush uses will kill bacteria). It's important that you use a brush that's soft-medium (if you do it too hard a soft would be best) and that the head isn't so big/small that you can't engage it to your tooth surface.
Make sure you use a fluride toothpaste, and learn how to floss (DON'T use a sawing motion). You could also talk to your dentist about some fissure sealings to protect the grooves in your teeth too small for a bristle to fit in.
