I have had braces for 3 days, i cant eat anything that needs to be chewed. how long will this last??
Question: i can only eat smoothies, soup and things that can be swallowed without the use of teeth. Otherwise, it REALLY hurts. How long do you think this will last?
Answers:
Should get better after about a week. It really hurts in the beginning, but it will get better.
That pain lasted about a week for me. I lived of mashed potato lol. Just eat soft things and take some painkillers :)
DRINK smoothies, not eat it.
it goes away after a week.
It'll hurt for about a week but it gets better after the first few days.
Try drinking stuff instead of eating...
Or just smush the food up against the roof of your mouth with your tongue...
I had braces, and it depends. Did you have spacers ? If so, the pain adjustment should be pretty similar. It sucks man, but you gotta wait it out. You should be able to chew something by Monday or Tue. By next friday you'll be good to go for the most part. Good luck!
Depends really, what extra stuffy you get put on.
Personal experience. it can last up to 2 weeks for me.
But most of the BRACES part was 7 days - 10 days.
My teeth were still a little tender from moving around after the 10th day but i could manage to eat bread =].
It will take a while before you start eating really hard stuff again, like crispy toasted bread and tough meat.
The rest of my pain was from a cap i had put on my back bottom right tooth to keep my upper set of teeth up to avoid my overbite chewing on my braces. Basically, what they did to put it was on, was force it, so naturally that caused a bit of pain. Although not many people have it so, i doubt you do. You shouldn't have much to worry about.
Food: Try eating jelly, thin noodles, pasta, yoghurt, or anything that can be broken down by sucking on it then swallowing each part slowly.
Trust me, its helpful in the long run, you'll get used to swallowing food a lot better and its good for later pain. Also, i learnt how to swallow tablets when i got braces ;).
Good Luck!
Make sure you Brush Well =]
I remembered those days when I was young, the pain was continuous until the 7th day, I started to feel better. I remembered taking a first bite of hamburger and the meat stuck in between of front teeth. My friend said, are you weening from liquids?
I can feel you pain... my mom made me homemade fresh squeezed juices in frozen pops and freeze them. They were my fave treats when I have pains in my teeth. Aren't mothers great?
The pain will start to go after about one to two weeks. Mine did exacatly the same. All i can say is put up with the pain, as it will be worth it. My teeth used to stick out of my mouth and i couldn shut my mouth until i did two years of braces. all i can say is No pain, no gain! Honestly! Try eating ice Lollies. This numbed my pain.
