Calling all Dentists!??
Question: I am a senior in high school. I am thinking about becoming a dentist. Please, if anyone out there is a dentist, please give me some info on what it takes, what are the pros and cons, do you need to be like a genious. If you wouldn't mind and don't care to share, I would like to know what your ACT score was so I could compare mine with yours. What does it take to get into dental school, please, just any info....it will be greatly appreciated.....thank you much.

I REALLY DON'T REMEMBER WHAT I GOT ON MY ACTs THAT WAS A VERY LONG TIME AGO AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO GETTING INTI DENTAL SCHOOL IS GETTING INTO ANY UNDERGRAD COLLEGE FIRST.
THE REAL KEY IS DOING WELL ON THE DENTAL APTITUDE TEST. YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD AT VISUALIZING IMAGES THAT ARE 3-D SHOWN AS 2-D ON PAPER.
A RUBIK CUBE GIVES GOOD PRACTICE.
YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN EASE OF WORKING WITH YOUR HANDS AND MUST LIKE PEOPLE AND HELPING THEM.
AFTER YOU ARE ACCEPTED INTO DENTAL SCHOOL THE KEY TO FINISHING IS JUST SEEING YOURSELF AT THE END AND RECEIVING YOUR DEGREE.
IT'S A DAY TO DAY, WEEK TO WEEK, AND MONTH TO MONTH PROCESS.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS A LOVE FOR LEARNING. THE MONEY WILL COME, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THIS.
JUST KEEP GRADUATING ON YOUR MIND AND EARNING THE DEGREE, THE REST WILL HAPPEN.
Here's just a thought. If you have trouble getting into dental schools, then apply to a dental hygiene program. You will get tons of experience and breeze through that part of dental school. I know that it would be 3 more years of school for me to become an DDS. Lots of your credits will transfer. Just ask the schools to check everything out first.
