How do YOU feel about fluoridated water? Toothpaste with fluoride? Do you use it, why/why not??
Answers: Fluoride ONLY works topically, ingesting it does not improve its effects. There is no point to drinking fluoridated water as long as you use fluoridated toothpaste, and even then fluoride varnish for children and other dental sealants for adults are far more effective.
It helps prevent decay, So I am for it.
yes because all dentist recommend to use it so why not?
I use toothpaste with fluoride to prevent tooth decay, yes.
Fluoridated water? Idk about that.
Flouride was first recommended because of a study done in an area that had less tooth decay. They found out that they had natural floride in their water. They decided if they put flouride in all drinking water it would be better for us too. The only problem is that the flouride they use is a by product of aluminum. In processing aluminum, a waste was creeated that used to cost the industry millions of dollars to dispose of until they found a market for it. You guess it - Our drinking water.
I called my city water company to find out if it adds flouride to our water. They sent me a list of 26 chemicals that are added to the city water. I don't drink it at all. I only drink purified waters & I use non flouride toothpastes.
FYI, most water filters do not remove fluoride, you have to get a special kind for that.
however i do use fluoride toothpaste and drink fluoridated water. since moving from a community without fluoridated water to one that has it, i haven't had a single cavity in 4 years, when i used to get 1 or more every 6 months.
and trust me i take great care of my teeth because i am a dental hygienist so it had nothing to do with that. it was all the fluoride!
