Why cant you give cold medicines to children under 2 yrs.??

Question: I HAVE A 14 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER THAT HAS BEEN SUFFERING TERRIBLY WITH UPPER RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES,INCLUDING THE CROUP, TROAT SO SORE SHE WONT EVEN SWALLOW HER OWN SALAVA,VIRUSES,AND EVEN THE FLU. THE DOCTORS WONT GIVE HER ANYTHING AND SAY ONLY TO GIVE HER TYLENOL AND/OR MOTRIN. NO COLD/SINUS OR ALLERGY MEDS. WHY?
Answers:
Because the meds will affect the blood pressure--a dangerous thing for most kids under 2--YOU need the doctor--so get dressed--turn off the computer and go to the doctor--why are you allowing the child to suffer>????
Because it's too strong. it's been proven to not work later in life if they use it early... also, they don't know how the child will react to the medicine.. If they're very allergic, they could die... it's just a precaution. Do as they say...you can give her a candy cane, though. They help. They have something (i forget what) in them, and it helps your throat. Just make sure she doesn't choke on it.
becuse many medicines are too strong for a kid that age and would most likely make them more sick and it could also be fatal. it would be an overdose
Meds have a lot of drugs in them that can do more harm to your baby, than to help. So you have to look at the long term effect that the drug could have on your baby. Unfortuneately the min amount of the active ingredient is too much for babies weights. And it has to be this amount to be affective. So the babies have to suffer it out. Look up the natural meds in your local health store and see what they have to offer.
