Lack of hormones! Please help??
Question: I had a radical hysterectomy 1 year ago. I was put on Premarin...Did well for a while, but now things are horrible. My symptoms are mood swings, low energy, trouble sleeping, not feeling like myself, mental confusion (really bad), feel like I'm in a fog, etc. Another gen. practitioner gave me some information on Bio-identical Hormone replacement therapy and it sounds promising. Anyone have experience with them. Also, how much does the lack of pregestin play in my mental state? Please help, I feel miserable. I do not want to be social and i feel as though I'm ignoring EVERYBODY...
Answers: Stop taking this medication and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;
sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;
sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance;
pain or swelling in your lower leg;
abnormal vaginal bleeding;
migraine headache;
pain, swelling, or tenderness in your stomach;
confusion, problems with memory or concentration;
jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet; or
a breast lump.
I would go see an Endocrinologist. They are responsible for monitoring hormones and various levels in the body. They have much more knowledge and in-depth experience than general practitoners. They will lso let you know if you need any additional suppliments, vitamins, etc...to balance you body/hormones better.
